ARCHORA / Practical guides
From theoretical coverage to a purchase estimate
Keep coverage, consumption, coat count and purchasing units consistent.
Published 4 October 2026
When to use this
For early material planning and a clearer quantity enquiry.
Key points
- Check whether the unit is m²/L/coat or kg/m².
- Include the number of coats in the calculation.
- Confirm practical consumption and packaging before ordering.
Read the unit first
Coverage expressed in m²/L/coat is an area covered by one litre in one coat. Consumption expressed in kg/m² is a mass per area. Do not interchange litres and kilograms without a confirmed product density.
Calculate on a consistent basis
For coverage in m²/L/coat, theoretical litres = area × number of coats ÷ coverage. If consumption is given per coat, multiply by coat count; if it is stated for the full system, do not count the coats again.
Confirm the purchase quantity
Theoretical values do not include every site loss. Substrate absorption, texture and application method can affect practical use. Share the area, substrate, desired finish and packaging requirements with the technical team before fixing the purchase quantity.
